North Port City Attorney Robert K. Robinson has a CONFLICT OF INTEREST in the creation of these cases.
Besides being the City Attorney, Robinson is also a partner in the NELSON HESSE LAW FIRM.
This means that he makes money through the firm for every case he creates and his partner at the firm Daniel Guarnieri handles them. Robinson has a profit motivation to sue without just cause, to avoid settlements and to continue litigation as long as possible.

While Mr. Robinson is stealing property and bankrupting families for their money, he and his wife, Lisa Carlton, Former President of the Florida Senate, got paid almost $52,000,000 to live on their huge own income producing ranch. Was this another way to get tax payer money? Was it a greatly overvalued transaction? Did they get HUGE IRS deductions on money that never really existed to contribute? YOU BE THE JUDGE! Oh and by the way, they live on this huge ranch with Judge Kim Carlton Bonner, Robinson's sister-in-law, A JUDGE with the Sarasota Circuit which is doling out huge judgments against poor homeowners.

A conservation easement is a way to pay people to own their own property. These deals can be on property which would most likely not be developed for years anyway, could have a lot of swamp and be OVERVALUED TRANSACTIONS. The hardest part, according to the Internet is finding a buyer, a municipality or conservation group willing to pay you large amounts of cash for you to remain as always on your property.
NOT HARD FOR POLITICALLY CONNECTED CARLTON-ROBINSONS
On or before December 31, 2007, a new deal was to go through for the "sale" of 7600 acres. This date is obviously for TAX PURPOSES.
Governing Board Approves Major Addition to Myakka Public Conservation Lands
This was the second time the Carltons received Conservation Easement Money. The first time was in 1994 when they got $2.4 million for 4800 acres. At that rate this 7600 acres would have netted $3.8 million.
Granted there was much land appreciation in 2006.
However even at 5 X the 1994 rate the deal would have been only $19 million. And by 2008 real estate values were dropping!
Look at what they got! Almost $52 million dollars TO LIVE ON THEIR OWN LAND! They can continue to ranch with their cattle, timber, sod and citrus business as well as live on it! They can have 7 houses and a log cabin. They can Will it to their children and they get huge TAX deductions. That must be why the time limit of December 31, 2007. Did they get about $78 million in deductions? Can these deductions be carried forward 16 years? Must be nice. When we ORDINARY PEOPLE sell our property we have to move. We have to pay capital gains tax.
Do they even get a reduction in their real estate taxes?
Did they have a $135,000 addition put on one of the houses?
Did they have a $205,000 barn with tack room built?
Was this money ($340,000) only three months worth of interest ON ALL THAT MONEY! And was this interest tax free too?
MORE CORRUPTION IN NORTH PORT
The City of North Port was created with only 10 days residency (instead of 6 months) and vote by General Development Corporation employees in 1959. These employees were brought to houses newly constructed by GDC. They were moved into them so they could vote the City into existence.
Why the urgency to create a MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, the City of North Port?
Well there was now a government controlled by the parent corporation which could collect money for roads, could look the other way on inspections and could RE-ZONE LAND!
GDC was originally Chemical Research Corporation in 1952. What chemicals were they researching and where were they disposed of?
IT IS VERY CONVENIENT FOR CORPORATIONS TO CONTROL GOVERNMENTS! (Just ask BP)
In 1990 GDC went bankrupt and corporate officers went to FEDERAL PRISON. In the early '90's GDC reorganized as Atlantic Gulf Communities Inc. They retained ownership of the NORTH PORT LANDFILL which GDC leased to the City of North Port from the '60's to the '80's. It was closed in 1986 and there is no mention on the Internet that it ever existed.
In 1997, Maggie Gamez began questioning what was in the old landfill when she found out the entire 800 acre property (25 acres was landfill) WAS UP FOR A LAND USE CHANGE! She wrote all over expressing her concern regarding stories brought to her by citzens, past down in their families, that in the '40's FERMI Lab brought down nuclear waste in barges and returned with phosphate to be used in making the atomic bombs for WWII.
She was concerned because she discovered that the North Port Landfill, like one other landfill in Florida, was showing unexplained levels of radiation. She was concerned about what chemicals could be buried there as well. She worried about the drinking water.
She was concerned because no one was monitoring the monitoring wells. The City of North Port said that AGC was to monitor landfill and AGC said they had an agreement with the City for them to monitor for contaminants.
Mrs. Games was also concerned that these monitoring wells would be destroyed by new construction.
HERON CREEK, the "jewel" of North Port is built on this land fill. The golf course is on top of the trash heap! The country club is built into its side.
IN 1997 THE CITY OF NORTH PORT VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO REZONE A LAND FILL TO A COUNTRY CLUB AND RESIDENTIAL AREA!
The City fines residents out of existence if our numbers on the mail box are not 2 inches high (FOR OUR PROTECTION) while The City fails to monitor this old landfill!

The City of North Port is now trying to annex the Community known as Warm Mineral Springs. They are however beginning with only one area: approximately 59 acres which includes a lake proported to be "The Fountain of Youth" in search of which Ponce DeLeon traveled thousands of miles. (Ponce DeLeon was killed by Indians literally a few miles away. His ships were moored at Charlotte Harbor.) This Spring is a natural wonder. It should not be exploited by crass development but preserved for the enjoyment of generations to come.
This "Deal" as reported in the North Port Sun Newspaper has as one proposal: to pay the current owner of the Warm Mineral Springs Resort $5,000,000 in tax money while allowing the OWNER TO KEEP THE PROPERTY! HELLO?
This is once more proof of North Port's misuse of taxpayer money to put it in private hands.
What North Port has forgotten is that they MAY NOT ANNEX A PART OF A COMMUNITY and that NO ANNEXATION may occur without the agreement by referendum of both the citizens of the annexing community and those of the community to be annexed.
VOTE NO! Here are the reasons:
1. North Port tax money will end up in private hands.
2. Warm Mineral Springs will be put on sewer and City water thereby preparing for large scale building plans for the benefit of a developer associated with the City. MONEY FOR ALL-BUT YOU.
3. The Citizens of Warm Mineral Springs will be paying for these hook-ups in the 10's of thousands of dollars.
4. You will now be subject to the City of North Port Code Enforcement. You will be fined for "violations". North Port and its City Attorney have been ruining citizens lives and stealing their property through Code Enforcement Lawsuits against citizens. They will now be able to sue you too.
5. If you do not have the money to hook up to sewer and water you may be found in "violation." See number 4 above.
6. Sewer is not Nature friendly. The City of North Port uses deep well injection to put sewer water deep into the ground-right next to the underground water supply polluting it.
7. You will be charged City taxes.
8. You will be charged expensive City Water and Sewer fees forever more!
9. Everyone will pay tax money to build a new sewer treatment plant because we will be told that the old one can not handle the new load. More money for developers/contractors connected to government and their community planner attorneys.
